Personal Biography

Dr. Griswold graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University School of Dentistry.  Arriving on Staten Island in July 1978, Dr. Griswold was a resident in Dentistry at the former Staten Island Hospital, which is now Staten Island University Hospital.  He has been on staff at the hospital since and is currently an attending dentist.  After residency, Dr. Griswold joined the private dental practice, Lavori, Puglisi and Abbadessa, P.C., and in 1983 he became a partner with that group which is currently Dental Associates of Richmond, P.C. 

 

Dr. Griswold is a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the Second District Dental Society, the Richmond County Dental Society, and Forensic Dental Society of New York. Dr. Griswold has been an active volunteer with the Greater New York Dental Meeting for 36 years and has served as a presiding chairman since 1990. In January 2010, Dr. Griswold was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Richmond County Dental Society.

 

Dr. Griswold volunteered for the forensic dental effort at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manhattan in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 World Trade Center attack.  In recognition of this service he was one of the recipients of the Bishop Ahern Award by the Blessed Sacrament Titan League in March 2002 and with a Certificate of Recognition from the Second District Dental Society in May 2002.  He has also received recognition for this service from the United States House of Representatives and from Dr. Charles S. Hirsch, the Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York, on September 11, 2003. 

 

In his spare time, Dr. Griswold is active leader and volunteer in several community service and voluntary organizations on Staten Island. He has been the recipient of many awards and honors through these organizations for his service, leadership and mentorship – especially in working with children and underserved populations. Him and his wife are the parents of four children.
