Personal Biography
Dr. Sponzo has been practicing dentistry since 1980.
Practicing dentistry for more than four decades gives him the unique advantage of seeing the true long-term results of different dental procedures over time. Dr. Sponzo has had a front-row seat to the incredible evolution of dental materials and technology, which allows him to bring deep perspective and refined clinical judgment to his practice.
Today, Dr. Sponzo’s focus is working alongside the wonderful team at The Smilist of Cromwell to help every patient achieve their absolute best dental health and a smile they truly love.
Throughout career, some of the most impactful moments have involved preventative care—specifically, identifying oral cancer at its earliest stages in several patients and seeing them go on to be treated successfully. It is a profound reminder of the dentist’s role in a patient’s overall health and well-being.
Dr. Sponzo also volunteers with Health Teams International as a clinician providing surgical dental care on foreign dental missions
Dr. Sponzo and his wife have been happily married for 48 years, and reside in the beautiful community of Madison, Connecticut. Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Sponzo cherishes every moment spent with his three children, their spouses, and his five wonderful grandchildren.
