Personal Biography

Dr. Charles Buchanan is a general dentist focused on delivering the highest quality care with minimal anxiety. After obtaining his Bachelors of Science in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany, Dr. Buchanan earned his doctorate from New York University College of Dentistry. He continued his training in a rigorous residency program at Bronxcare Health System. After focusing on pediatric patients while in Texas and returning to the Bronx to serve the homeless, Dr. Buchanan has returned to Queens to continue his passion for family and aesthetic dentistry.

Dr. Buchanan’s philosophy is that “Dentistry is a passion of mine because of the people that I get to meet. Whether it is explaining a dental condition, walking down the tightrope of dental fear together, or simply sharing a good laugh, we’re able to meet each other in the middle and get you to great oral health. That’s where a true doctor-patient relationship thrives. Healthcare is often measured as a “what,” but we can gain so much more when we think about the “how.” My goal is to deliver the highest quality dental care that grows with the advancement of research and technology, while respecting the patient as whole, instead of a problem to be fixed. This makes space for you to achieve a higher quality of health and the chance to walk out of your dentist appointment feeling like it happened for you, and not to you.”

Outside of the practice, Dr. Buchanan loves trying new cuisines and thrill chasing on the slopes and at theme parks. He also enjoys family time, with his wife and son, exploring new sights in New York City.

What others are saying about The Smilist Dental

“What a great experience! Everyone who works here is kind and caring. They take the time to explain what’s going on. They’re friendly. They make you feel taken care of. I couldn’t be happier with my experience, and I normally hate going to the dentist.”
